Creating a Random or Rework Inspection
Users with the appropriate rights can create Random or Rework inspections.
- Random - Random inspections are inspections that can be conducted at any time and are not specific to the incoming inspection process.
- Rework - Rework inspections are inspections that are conducted as a result of a nonconforming part. If a manufacturer has the ability to rework a part without sending it back to the supplier, then they can use the Rework inspection type.
- From the SmartSolve Portal Page, click the Home tab.
- In the Inspection Management section of the list, select Create Inspection.
Result: The Initiate Inspection window is displayed.
- Click the drop down button and select the type of inspection, such as Random or Rework. For additional information on configuration, see Inspection Types.
- Zoom to select the following:
- Inspection Receipt (random inspections only) - If a receipt is selected, then the Part, Revision, Supplier, and Quantity fields are populated from the information entered in the selected receipt.
- Source Number (rework inspections only) - Zoom to NC Management to select a nonconformance or enter a nonconformance number from another system.
- Zoom to select the part. For additional information on configuration, see Parts. If a receipt was selected, then this field defaults from the selected receipt and is read-only.
- Enter the part revision. The part revision reflects the most current revision of a part. A part may be revised several times throughout its lifecycle. Part 55, may have revisions A, B, C. It is important to have the most current revision of a part as the part specifications may have changed. Revision C may have different specifications than Revision A. If a receipt was selected, then this field defaults from the selected receipt and is read-only.
- Zoom to select a supplier. For additional information on configuration, see Inspection Suppliers. If a receipt was selected, then this field defaults from the selected receipt and is read-only.
- Click the up and down arrows to specify the quantity and select the unit of measurement. This field defaults from the receipt, is editable, and must be greater than zero. If a receipt was selected, then this field defaults from the selected receipt and is read-only. For additional information on configuration, see Units of Measurement.
- Click the drop down button and select the sampling plan. If N/A is selected for the sampling plan, then the AQL field becomes required. This field defaults from Inspection Management Setup. For additional information on configuration, see Sampling Plans.
- Click the drop down button and select the AQL or Acceptance Quality Limit. This field defaults from Inspection Management Setup. For additional information on configuration, see AQLs.
- Click the up and down arrows to specify the sample size. When the user has provided the Sampling Plan, AQL, and Total Quantity, then the Sample Size field is populated based on the quantity between the Minimum and Maximum Lot Size range defined in Sampling Plan Setup. This field must be greater than zero, but less than the total quantity.
- Zoom to select the area where the inspection will take place. This field defaults from Inspection Management Setup. For additional information on configuration, see Inspection Areas.
- Add an attachment, if necessary.
- Click the Submit button.
Result: The inspection has been initiated.
